NGC7000’s Gulf of Mexico by Daniel MeekDaniel Meek of Calgary, Alberta, took this detailed image of the North America Nebula, NGC7000, during the night of August 25/26, 2014. It nicely shows the aptly named “Gulf of Mexico” region.

He used a 5-inch Tele Vue NP127is f/5.2 apochromatic refractor and a QSI 583wsg CCD camera for this 180-minute, narrowband image. More of Daniel’s work can be seen here.
