Photo of the Week Contest Rules and Prizes

You could win one of five great prizes!

To be eligible to win, submissions must be received by June 1, 2020. (Images received after that date will automatically be entered in the 2020/21 edition of our Photo of the Week contest.) You may enter as often as you wish, but please don’t send more than 10 of your best photos per entry.

We’ll select the best submissions and publish a new photo every week at The images posted on-line are eligible for our Readers’ Choice prize.

Step 3
The year’s finest photos and honourable mentions will be published in the Sept./Oct. 2020 issue of SkyNews.


Images should be in JPEG format, 2,400 pixels wide, and should not have text (such as labels, copyright notices or other information) imprinted on them.

Put your full name and address in your e-mail.

Please include as many of the following details as possible: camera make, lens, focal ratio, exposure time, processing steps, location and date.

Some composites (for example, those with foregrounds shot from a different location and/or date than the sky portion) are not eligible, however, nightscape images and photos consisting of stitched mosaics and panoramas are allowed.

All images must be captured using equipment you personally set up and operated.

Photos previously submitted to SkyNews, including those not published, are automatically eligible. Do not resubmit photos already sent.

There are no entry fees or entry forms.
